  Sampaguita Choir

The Sampaguita Choir ("sampaguita," or jasmine, is the national flower of the Philippines) is the vocal component of the Sinag-Tala Performing Arts Troupe, and is one of the most visible groups among the Association. Revived in 1995 after a long hiatus, the Choir has become a staple at various functions in the area Filipino community.

Led by Jose Bayani, the Choir is composed of non-musical professionals; the only requirements are: a nice smile, a kind heart, and a good appetite! Yearly performances include weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, community events, and liturgical celebrations.

Some notable performances include:

  • Music Days at Science City – Kansas City Union Station
  • Asian Music & Dance Festival – Missouri State University
  • Kansas City Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration
  • KC 150 Celebration – Arrowhead Stadium
  • Mayor's Ethnic Enrichment Commission’s Diplomatic Ball
